The Wood, Cleatlam

Light, spacious accommodation, rather unusually arranged, with open-plan stairs from the living room leading up to the third bedroom, which is in effect a large landing with a futon bed - would be ideal for children, with lots of play-space, except there is no way of restricting light and noise from the living-room at bed-time.
Well equipped kitchen leading to pleasant small dining-room. Bathroom could do with updating and supplying with a lock.
Huge lawned garden with country views.
Very easy access to the coast and Moors.

We were warmly welcomed, shown around the property and given useful information on local amenities and places to visit. The property, although on a main road, was set down from the road and screened by a high hedge with very little traffic noise and with lovely views across fields and the Derwent valley, particularly from the breakfast/dining room. The property was modern, clean and well equipped, although TV reception was very poor, even on the large modern LCD TV. Set on the outskirts of the village of Brompton, it was very convenient for its excellent local butcher's shop and the local pub -very good for meals!
The very steep drive down to the parking area could prove challenging to a less experienced driver, particularly for the hill starts necessary to get out on to the main road.
All in all an excellent stay in a lovely location in easy reach of the North Yorkshire Moors and the coast.

Excellent central location for all east coast attractions. Very comfortable cottage with all mod cons. Children loved the galleried area. Refreshments tray on arrival was a really nice touch. Would definitely stay again.

We very much enjoyed our stay - and not only because the weather was generally friendly. It's an excellent location for places we like, it was very confortable, and the facilities were good. There was wi-fi available even though we had not expected it. All in all, we could not have asked for better!

We liked where the cottage was situated it was easy to get to all of the attractions in the area. The cottage was really special inside, felt at home there, clean and simple decoration.

We found the owner of The Wood particularly welcoming and the property exceptionally clean and tidy. We enjoyed the many local attractions and found the position of the property convenient and accessible for the Moors and seaside resort of Scarborough also.

We were made to feel very welcome on arrival; a tea tray and biscuits had been laid out and fire wood left. The cottage was very clean and comfortable.

We loved this cottage! It was tastefully decorated and the living space was bright and airy. We loved the breakfast room and the master bedroom was fab.

A superb and highly individual property. offering a really special holiday. Fantastic countryside view from the breakfast/dining room via french window. 'The Anvil' in Sawdon highly recommended for a 'proper meal' and a pint of Black Sheep ale.

The cottage was centrally located to the North Moors and enabled us to do plenty of walking. The real fire was a bonus as it was very cold and snowing whilst we were there. The Cottage was of a very high standard.

The property was very clean and had everything we needed.

The house was immaculate and the owner was helpful. Everything was provided even down to the washing up liquid, pegs and tea towels! The kitchen appliances were easy to use and helpful instructions were around. Both the inside and outside space was very generous. There was no noise from the owners' house attatched to the cottage. The people in the village shop were lovely and the local butcher was a real find! Lots of leaflets about attractions and good recommendations for eating out were left by the owner.

We love everything about this cottage. It is near the coast and the lovely countryside. The cottage is always clean and everything you need for a good holiday, is provided. The weather too was lovely.

We enjoyed our stay at The Wood very much. The cottage is very well-equipped and the local restaurants and golf courses excellent.

The standard of the property was very high and we were made to feel at home. It is well located within walking distance of local shops and pubs yet had beautiful views across the valley.

The owner left a gift of tea, biscuits and a nice bunch of flowers which was most welcome after a long drive from Kent.The cottage was excellent in all respect's. The cottage is in a great location to explore the coast line of north Yorkshire and the tremendous countryside.

The Wood proved to be the ideal resting place for exploring the area, it's not too far from any of the major towns and all are very well signposted. The restaurants and market towns were a hit for all the family, from the kids to the grandparents. I would highly recommend a stay in the area.

The cottage was a good base to explore the east coast. The hosts were helpful but not intrusive and we could not ask for more. Also, our dogs were catered for.

The property was well placed for touring the area. We had all the modern conveniences needed. The owner was more than happy for us to use the wi-fi facility. This was useful in browsing the internet when needed.

This was a warm, comfortable cottage in a great location for exploring the surrounding area. We found plenty to do, enjoying days out in Dalby Forest, Whitby, Scarborough, York and Flamingo Land.

A lovely cosy cottage which was ideal for our November break. It was clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation. In a fantastic peaceful location although Scarborough and Filey were a short drive away with lovely beaches and seafront cafes to enjoy a hot chocolate after a brisk walk.
