Sweeping views of Robin Hood Bay and the Yorkshire Coast greet visitors to the seaside cottage of Heather Croft, which sits just a short stroll from beautiful beaches and the harbour.
The detached red-brick holiday cottage in North Yorkshire offers three bedrooms and one bathroom in an open plan layout that includes a sitting room leading to a balcony with stunning views and has been designed to bring in the coastal vibe. The bedrooms include one double (with room for cot), one twin with sloped ceiling and one ground floor single. The spacious bathroom sits on the ground floor, while a shower room can be found on the first floor. The well-equipped kitchen lies next to the dining area, which contains the French doors that lead to the south-facing balcony with stunning views. Yet more beautiful views are offered from the grassed garden which assures relaxation. Summer afternoons and evenings will be well spent here with the provision of a BBQ.
Modern amenities include oil central heating, laundry facilities, WIFI and off-road drive in parking for two cars. The comfortable sitting room has been fitted with FreeView TV, video, DVD and stereo/CD and the pet-free property provides facilities for young children.
Robin Hood Bay boasts a picturesque harbour area and a cobble-stoned centre full of shops and eateries offering a variety of cuisine. It also sits beside a coastline of wide, sandy beaches and spectacular cliffs. Whitby and Scarborough are within reach as are many Coast to Coast walks.
This is one of the nicest places we have stayed in the UK
All that was needed was in the cottage ,it was clean and so very comfortable ,home form home, the garden was lovely and the view was splendid .
There is nothing i can add only it was simply just perfect in every way possible
Heather Croft offered the total package for the perfect holiday.
The owner popped in to welcome us and made sure we had everything we needed. There are lovely views over the rooftops and bay from the downstairs windows and the decking and garden provide the ideal place to relax and take in the views. The cottage is very comfortable and we couldn't have wished for more. We have already booked again for this coming year.
Great views, great spot, but property needs maintenance
Property is beautifully situated with spectacular sea and country views. The property has adequate parking for two cars and is close to the village of Robin Hood's Bay. Bathroom accommodation is somewhat limited by having only one very small electric shower. Overall cleanliness was good and, although we never saw the owner, a large vase of flowers greeted us on our arrival.
The property does not have Internet although there is a local public Wifi service that offers a very limited connection at cost (10 pounds per week). There were some problems with maintenance, such as a malfunctioning glass shower door that was apt to fall on you, blocked outside drains that overflowed at the side of the property (causing bad smells in the kitchen), and a poorly functioning oven that heated the kitchen rather than cooking the food.
Voice messages left for the owner regarding maintenance issues went unanswered and the rental company, Sykes cottages, could only apologize after the fact for our experience.
Good location & nice cottage but lacking essentials for an enjoyable stay
The price of the cottage was fair for our short stay and time of the year. The location is good, and there is room for 2 cars. The furnishings have been updated since the photos on here were taken. There is a nice decking area outside plus a children's Wendy House, which is a nice touch for families. There are 3 rooms, 2 of which on the first floor are reasonably sized, the 3rd room being a small single. There is a bathroom on the ground, plus a shower room on the first. We were relatively comfy here through the day, but we found a big issue with the heating. The cottage was very cold, and the thermostat was not adjustable, likely due to a lock being put on the temperature. This, I'm afraid we found disappointing, as with no open fire in the cottage we were relying on the central heating, but unfortunately the lack of flexibility on the heating made the atmosphere in the cottage very cold. At night, the 1st floor rooms were just about warm enough for a comfortable nights sleep, but my friend who stayed in the single ground room was very cold at night and had to sleep in clothes which, meant when the heating kicked in at 6, he was woken up absolutely roasting. Definitely need to allow paying guests the flexibility to adjust their own heating. The bath on the ground floor initially ran cold, so needs to run very slowly to attain the desired temperature. Nevertheless, a good bath if you can afford to wait. The shower on the first however is not very powerful. It's an electric shower which fails to provide the satisfactory pressure for an enjoyable shower. We were that cold at times, that we had the oven and hobs on just to provide additional heating so, if the locked thermostat is an efficiency plan... it didn't work on this occasion. As previously stated, there is no WI-FI which, is not such a big issue if you can get a 3/4G signal... but you can't. So, the only way to access the internet is to go to the local shop and buy a voucher, which on a Sunday (when I needed access) is not possible. I think the WI-FI instalment would seriously be worth the investment. Negatives aside, all cooking utensils and facilities are available, plus iron/ironing board. Also there are some complimentary board games to use which for families is a nice touch.
Perfect for a family with dogs. Good location. Excellent views. Car parking and access good compared to old village of Robin Hoods Bay.
Exceeded expectations - first class.
Very homely, modern and warm property - very relaxing also. Victoria Hotel & Dolphin - superb food & good value for money. Staithes & Sandsend also very pictureque. Wonderful, reliable service by Sykes Cottages.
Well equipped and nicely presented.
Garden good for family and dogs.
A lovely place to relax.
Very relaxing, good proximity to beach, lovely view, great place to stay. Coast in winter with good weather is lovely as there are few other tourists. Cyling to Ravenscar was a particular highlight apart from the up hill gradients!!!
An excellent location - great, comfortable, homely, spacious property. Fantastic views. Easy access to other places of interest.
The enclosed decking area was perfect for our 2 year old who also liked the downstairs bedroom with the big bed. The size of the bathroom was great, everything was great really.
The cottage was excellent, especially with having small children and enjoying eating out on the decking. Excellent value for money and we will definitly be going back again. We will be recommending the cottage to family and friends. Lots to do in the area and a excellent pub (Victoria Hotel) in Robin Hoods bay which serves excellent food, large portions and great value for money. Most visit Filey,Whitby and Goathland (where heartbeat is filmed).
The quiet location and the views were wonderful. We didn't want to come home, which is a first. Definitely considering going back next year.
A beautiful, very spacious well equipped cottage, with plenty of room for 7. Fantastic views, plenty of things to do and places to visit, I would recommend the steam train from Whitby to Pickering, an excellent day out. We will definately return.
A very homely, well equipped cottage. We particularly enjoyed the terrace and BBQ with beautiful views over the bay. An excellent base for walking and enjoying the many things on offer on the Yorkshire Coast and Moors.
Fantastic views from the cottage, and walks right on the doorstep, close to the coast. The cleanliness of the cottage was second to none and the proprietor was more than helpful. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
The cottage lay out is excellent, and I will recommend this cottage. I hope to book this cottage in the near future.
The property was superb. The view was as described, the owner was very helpful, the position for the area was excellent - not very far to travel to Whitby, Scarborough, Heartbeat Country or the Yorkshire Moors. It also helped that we had a good week and spent quite a lot of time on the balcony, which was lovely.
An excellent property for families to share as upstairs/downstairs. The bedrooms/bathrooms are very convenient.
I enjoyed the ability to sit in the decking area and enjoy a drink after the children had gone to bed - very peaceful.
The cottage has a good position with views of the sea.
The accommodation was perfect and felt like home from home. The location was excellent for the areas we wanted to visit and explore.
The cottage was very clean and homely, great location. The kids loved the garden. The rooms were light and airy, kids had games and videos to occupy themselves! We would definitely book again.
The cottage was excellent and we would book again.
Superb accommodation, beautiful place...
A lovely, clean, bright property with great sea views from the decking area. Very well equipped and well maintained with excellent gas barbecue provided. Well positioned for walking to the bay or for transport to Whitby.
Home from home with excellent view...
10 out of 10.
Fantastic cottage in an amazing location, great owner, so much to do and see, didn't want to leave!
Ideal position, at the top of the village. Lovely view of the sea and hills. A quiet oasis for weary travellers and walkers.
The location of the cottage was ideal. The cottage was very welcoming and the view of Robin Hood's Bay from the living room was outstanding. Would love to return again during the summer months.
The holiday was very good and was the best one so far, look forward to using you again.
The cottage gets 10 out of 10!
Really comfortable cottage with lovely garden space. Probably best accommodation we've used in ten years of coming to Robin Hoods bay.
The comfort zone was wonderful! The garden set up was perfect, plenty of outdoor furniture. Ideal situation for walking and eating out. It was all perfect!
The cottage and location were excellent. Robin Hood's Bay was beautiful with lots of wonderful places to eat and drink - the Wayfarer Bistro was first rate.
An excellent property, a home from home with fantastic sea views. Decking and BBQ are great for eating outside. Swell cafe in the bay.
Delightful property, very comfortable, in an ideal location just a short walk from the bay.
Cottage was clean, well maintained with a modern homely feel. It had everything we needed.
Beautiful views from the house, which is comfortable and well equipped. Conveniently located on the main road and local shops are nearby.
The view from the cottage was lovely and there was a playhouse in the garden that my 2 year old loved and there was toys for her too. The cottage overall was excellent and we had a great time.
The cottage was perfect for our needs and we have already booked it again for next year. Its location is great - super views and perfectly placed for touring around the area. The owner popped over to introduce herself and to ask if everything was OK, which was nice. It was Goth weekends in Whitby, which added extra interest to our holiday.
Lovely clean comfortable cottage, close to amenities. A home from home.
This was our second visit and we cannot fault the property and its superb position. We are booking again for next year.
A well-kept property allowing easy access to all amenities & other towns.
The cottage is in a great location and its spacious and comfortable. The view was lovely and the bed was comfy. We really liked the cottage.
Best place we have stayed in Robin Hoods Bay - will book again for our next visit.
This was our third visit to Heather Croft. It offers everything we need and is in a wonderful position, with views over the rooftops down to the sea. It is a very warm, comfortable property and has a lovely relaxed feel to it. The added bonus is that it has its own parking, which is rare in Robin Hood's Bay.
Lovely place to relax and unwind, excellent views, a lovely little cottage, really clean and the owner even left a lovely bunch of flowers and a packet of cookies for us [this was a lovely touch] would recommend to friends and family.
We loved it from the minute we stepped inside the house. Everything looked lovely, and the views are fantastic. The garden house was a bonus.
Wonderful cottage, could not have asked for more!
This was our second visit, and it didn't disappoint!
Really enjoyed our break, we have stayed at Heather Croft before. The living room is great and has a wonderful view of the bay. All the rooms were comfortable and we returned relaxed and restored. Will definitely go again.
The location was perfect and the cottage and garden were lovely.
Where the cottage was situated was very convenient and the view from the patio was excellent. We do a lot of walking and it was so nice to be able to go back to a lovely comfortable cottage.
The cottage was in an excellent position and detached, a good walking distance into the lower bay. Very peaceful, with stunning views from the back.
Loved the cottage location and the beautiful scenery.
Heather Croft was all we could have wanted and more. The cottage was a delightfully spacious place with a good view of the bay. We enjoyed the local eateries, walks, sheep at the bottom of the garden and bats at night. Not forgetting the variety of birds who visited every day. It is well located for visits to Scarborough, Whitby, Staithes and of course Grosmont is a lovely place to visit and explore.
Everything was lovely. We were very pleased and would recommend Heather Croft to friends and family.
The location, views and privacy of this cottage were all excellent. The rooms were spacious and the decoration and furnishings were to a very high standard. The kitchen utensils/equipment were more than adequate for our needs. Another good thing was having a parking area on the drive for 2 cars. We would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in Robin Hood's Bay.
We particularly liked the location of Heather Croft, plenty of light in the downstairs living space and plenty of space for everyone in the property.
