Lodge Cottage, York

This comfortable and well appointed cottage is close to York yet in a rural
setting. All the amenities are new, smart, functional and comfortable. We
stayed to be close to our son at York University and explore the city's history
and heritage, for which the cottage proved to be an ideal base. The owners
were kind, considerate and welcoming, making us feel like friends. We very
much hope to stay there again.

The cottage was a nice surprise when we got there, and the directions were easy to follow. It was very compact - everything you could possibly wish for from the biggest to the smallest item!!

It was comfortable, the view was lovely over the fields at the back of the house. The only comment I have is that the shower room could have been a bit bigger, but was adequate.

We were going to a photographic forum at York racecourse so the location was ideal, there were plenty of places to eat and drink and a lovely pub at the bottom of the road!

I would definitely recommend this property and the owner introduced himself to us, but did not intrude but just said that if there was anything we needed let him know.

Would use it again without a doubt.

The cottage was easy to find, very clean. Lots of information about things to do in the area. Very quiet. Plenty of crockery etc.Very cosy, although could have done with different heating as the bedroom could get cold, so a small heater might have helped. Would certainly stay there again and recommend it to others

A very well appointed little cottage with convenient transport into York with many tourist attractions. Good kitchen equipment and comfortable beds.

very quiet down country lane very clean kitchen a bit on the small side but everything you need was their. Nice pub 5 mins walk but dark lane torch was supplied handy for york on the park and ride could not work the oven one day the owner from next door came straight away
got it working

The cottage was immaculate, and had everything for a perfect break. Beautful views in a lovely Yorkshire village, but very easy to travel to York, North Yorkshire moors, and the coast to Scarborough/Whitby. Owners live next door and were very friendly and welcoming, but did not intrude on your privacy. Would definitely stay in this cottage again.

Loved my stay here. From the outside the cottage looks deceptively small, but the living space, kitchen and bedroom are great. The bathroom is a little cramped, but the shower works well, so no matter.

Location is great - outside the hustle and bustle of York, but still easy to reach the centre.

Lodge Cottage is set in a tranquil setting for those seeking to escape to the country and proved an ideal base for my wife and I to venture across much of Yorkshire. The property owners were very welcoming and checked we had everything needed shortly after arriving. We enjoyed a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Everything was first class and we had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday in a superb cottage.

Ideally situated to visit York as only about 2 miles to 'Park & Ride'. Also for visiting National Trust properties.

I liked the close proximity to York and the surrounding area. The cottage itself was very quiet and extremely clean, and had everything one could have wanted for a pleasant holiday. The owners very friendly also.

You just opened the door and that was it - lovely from the word go. Clean and everything we needed for the week. It was just like being in your own home. Very relaxing, we slept well and could sit out in the evening. All being well we will come again.

This was a last minute decision to go away as my husband now has health problems. We really enjoyed our stay at Lodge cottage, it was very quiet which is what we wanted. 3 miles from the park and ride into York.

The property 1st class, location very good easy to get to the park/ride which was ideal. A perfect place for two, you could just relax and chill or very useful for a base. Will recommend this property to friends and family.

It was always warm and the beds were super comfortable. The parking arrangement was very convenient. We were not bothered by the owners but it was good to know they were nearby if needed.

Lodge Cottage was ideally located to visit the City of York. It was located near the A1237 road, which was very convenient for visiting many different places, as this was part of the ring road around York. Park and Ride in a number of different places not far from the cottage.

Lodge Cottage at Knapworth was in an excellent location in a very quiet little village. A charming well appointed place to call "home" while exploring the surrounds.

Very quiet and peaceful, a good base for lots of attractions in York and the surrounding area.

A cosy, well thought out and designed cottage with friendly owners next door. Nice to have two large sofas and the kitchen has plenty of cupboard space and work tops. Had good private patio areas which would be lovely in summer. Warm and cosy, would recommend.

Lodge Cottage is very small but for two people wanting a very quiet location it's perfect. There are open fields to the front and back and it is located in a dead-end lane with no traffic. The cottage is close to the excellent Park & Ride terminus which makes getting into York so easy.

We enjoyed our stay in Yorkshire very much and the cottage was just what we wanted. Nice and secluded, quiet and in close driving distance to the City of York and surrounding towns and countryside. The weather was amazing for the time of year.

An excellent base for exploring the Vale of York and beyond. The Cottage was warm and comfortable, and well equipped enough to cope with some reasonably complex cooking. There was lots of information on things to do in the area, and instructions for heating, appliances etc. It was very good value for money.

This is the ideal property for two people visiting York. It is well situated in a quiet spot but convenient for the excellent Park & Ride services into the city. We shall undoubtedly want to come back here.

It was ideally located within easy reach of York City and surrounding attractions. It was a small but perfectly formed holiday cottage in a quiet village which was exactly what we had envisaged.

The Lodge was the perfect retreat for two. It gave us the opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle but still be within striking distance of York itself and indeed a great deal of Yorkshire.
The owners were next door and were very nice seeing if there was anything else we might need.
They were extremely friendly, approachable and very helpful.
The accommodation itself was of an excellent standard and met our needs perfectly. I am already highly recommending it to friends and family.
