Rock Mill Cottage

This was an excellent choice by my wife. We travelled with an 18 month old baby and wanted to have all the comforts of home to make our stay relaxing. The cottage provided everything as advertised with no surprises. Take a look at the pictures. It really is that pretty and well appointed. As for location, it was excellent. Out in the country yet only a couple of miles from the a1 for easy access to alnick and the surrounding area.
The hosts Jeremy and Elaine were equally pleasing. Very friendly and certainly gave the impression they were there to help with any requests. We never made any requests because we were very satisfied with things as we found them. Well done!
Would not hesitate to recommend this cottage.
If your needs are for a bigger cottage there is another larger one on site also. Well worth a phone call to check it out.

We appreciated the individual & tastefully decorated interior of this cottage. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the situation was perfect for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coast.

The owners Elaine and Jeremy were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The cottage lived up to all our expectations, comfortable beds, very modern facilities but retaining a farmhouse character, with a small private garden that got the evening sun (I especially liked the kitchen). The cottage is in a lovely, pretty, quiet location but near to all the major attractions Northumberland has to offer. This area is beautiful, full of history with superb unspoilt beaches. Will definitely return.

Very clean, comfortable and charming character cottage in a brilliant location for exploring the Northumberland coast. The owner was very friendly and gave us loads of tips about local places to eat and drink (accurate tips, too!). The quiet location meant we slept extremely well and had total privacy too. Great place and we have already recommended it to family.

Had a wonderful week in this lovely cottage. So peaceful waking up to nothing but birdsong! The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped . The wood burning stove made for cosy evenings after exploring the beautiful Northumberland coastline. Plenty of lovely walks on this stunning coastline, and there are plenty of places to visit. Spoiled for choice on where to eat. We were joined for a couple of nights by our sons, both in their 20's who said the bunk beds were comfy!
The owner Jeremy welcomed us he was really friendly and very helpful - and no need for a good food guide as his recommendations were spot on. We look forward to returning!

Spent 5 nights staying in your Rock Mill Cottage over February Half Term. The cottage was a great base to explore Northumberland. Nice walks from the cottage - close to Embleton Bay and the fantastic Ship Inn and Pilgrim's Arms pubs. The accommodation was perfect for our family (2 adults / 2 children) stylishly decorated, really clean, warm and comfortable - a great place to relax and unwind. Jeremy and Elaine did a great job of making us feel welcome.

Rock Mill Cottage is part of a farm stead, tucked away down a long lane, a real gem in the middle of no-where. If you like waking up to the sound of bird song not traffic noise then this place is for you. Owners Jeremy and Elaine very helpful when queries arose and he even made a fire for us on the first night as the storage heaters had been switched off and the Northumberland June evening was chilly! Shame about the weather but an ideal base for touring round the area with castles / towns / beaches / excellent pubs all within easy striking distance. Lovely scenery when we could see it when the mist parted. Recommended.

Lovely, homely cottage, especially during the chill evenings of November, the wooding-burning stove was great and cheerful. Very quiet and peaceful location, will definitely return again in late Spring when hopefully the weather will be kinder.

We liked the fact that the cottage was very remote and the coal/log burner in the lounge made it very cosy.

The setting was very peaceful, close to beaches and countryside, but easily accessible to A1.

Very relaxing ambience, peace and quiet, nesting birds, resident ducks etc. Very comfortable bed. Owners very nice.

Cottage beautifully restored and freshly decorated. Our stay was very relaxing. Children enjoyed playing in garden with dogs and ducks. Owners friendly and helpful.

We love this area - lots to do and so unspoilt. One of the best cottages we have stayed in. Kitchen facilities excellent, furnishings and carpets were lovely and everything was new. Lots of safe space for children to play and we all like the ducks and dogs(though owners were careful not to let dogs out until we asked about them). We would certainly stay here again if in the area. Our second Sykes cottage - we have been very pleased with both. Thank you!

All of the holiday was great, the beaches are suited to children with them being shallow and clean.

We were lucky with the weather, which made the beaches more accessible. The cottage is situated at a very convenient location for a range of fantastic coastline locations and has a wide range of eating places nearby. Alnwick Gardens is a great place to visit.

Spacious cottage in a lovely tranquil setting, near to beaches. Big garden for the children to play in and was made to feel welcome by the owners.

A very peaceful location. the cottage was beautifully decorated throughout, extremely clean on arrival and the owners, who lived next door, were on hand should there have been any problems (there were none). The area is very well set for visiting many interesting places - a stunning area for a holiday, one which I enjoyed immensely.

Owners were very welcoming. Booked at short notice but property was well prepared on arrival and nothing seemed too much trouble. Extremely peaceful position. We have 2 boys and they really enjoyed the stay with a safe field to play in and feeding the chickens and geese each day.

We booked the cottage for a special occasion and were made to feel very welcome by the owners. The cottage was cosy with
a woodburner in the living room, comfortable bedrooms, modern downstairs bathroom and a small kitchen with plenty crockery for our family who visited us and we felt very at home there. The setting, in the heart of the lovely Northumbrian countryside, close to beautiful unspoilt beaches, is very peaceful and we had a very enjoyable, restful holiday with pleasant walks in the autumn sunshine and visits to interesting local villages and castles, including the nearby historic town of Alnwick. Although the road to Rock Mill has an uneven surface it was well worth the drive to such a haven of tranquility in such lovely rural surroundings.

Excellent location with easy access to A1 and surrounding area. Very pretty countryside all around the cottage and the cottage itself was charming. Really loved the log burner. Going to have to get one at home. Very smart kitchen with everything we needed and more. The owners were very friendly and delivered excellent service. We never had to make any requests because they had catered for all our needs perfectly. Would be our first call if we were to return to the area.

The cottage was lovely and in a very pretty quiet location. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly. The area around Embleton is beautiful and there is so much to do in this unspoilt county.
The only problem was that a week isn't long enough to explore all that Northumberland has to offer!

Rock Mill Cottage was an ideal location for visiting lots of places. The scenery is beautiful and so was the weather.

I thoroughly enjoyed Rock Mill Cottage for many reasons. The location was excellent with many roads leading to all sorts of interesting places, such as the Castles. We ventured out everyday knowing we would return to the comforts of the cottage coupled with very peaceful surroundings.
The cottage was extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated with more than enough of everything.

A great location, quiet and peaceful yet centrally sited between many attractions.

We used the Cottage as a base whilst playing the various golf courses in the area each day. The Cottage was in a super spot - well equipped, great wifi, and quiet. We had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the little touches that make all the difference when you are away. Many thanks for a lovely stay.
