Voted by the Sunday Mirror as one of the top 25 Stylish Getaways in the British Countryside, this idyllic rural Oxfordshire holiday home is the complete restorative luxury escape package in the countryside. With three double bedrooms with comfortable beds and sumptuous pillows and two lounges (each with sofa beds). The Chestnuts can sleep (deeply) up to ten guests.
The Chestnuts has flatscreen TV's in both lounges and all bedrooms, blending comfortably with traditional features such as flagstone floors and a blazing log fire (making Chestnuts a perfect for winter-walking holidays in the Cotswolds), along with chic contemporary facilities within its stylish contemporary interiors such as a Gaggia espresso coffee machine, BOSE iPod dock and WiFi.
The cottage has three 'indulgent' bathrooms for those who like to feel properly-pampered at the start or end of their day. Facilities include a soothing 'Raindance' shower, fluffy bathrobes as well as a range of natural body spa lotions and potions for you to sample (and take home), meaning you can travel light without compromising on comfort. Should you wish to keep in touch with the world outside, as well as free WiFi there is a telephone to many regions.
On warm sunny days and balmy summer evenings, the sunny, well-cared for garden becomes an outdoor lounge, with sun loungers, benches, BBQ tables and seating amidst the shrubs and flowers for relaxation and dining under the stars.
For families with infant children, there's no need to pack items such as a cot, highchair, stairgate or changing mat - they are all here waiting for you, along with a toy box, leaving space for a few more party dresses instead. For older guests, there is even a pilates mat should you wish to maintain your regime while on holiday - and work off all those cream-tea calories.
Shilton itself is a most picturesque little village with a very satisfying atmospheric (and child-friendly) country pub within walking distance. All in all, The Chestnuts does a very good job in anticipating your every need for a memorable and relaxing self-catering holiday in the Cotswolds.
