Swallow Cottage

We were warmly welcomed by Sam with a bottle of wine and a lovely plate of homemade mince pies - a nice start to our festivities.The barns are of outstanding cleanliness and quality in a superb walking area. We had a great christmas in this comfortable, well appointed home. Local area tips were plentiful and very helpful from our host for whom nothing was too much trouble.Being keen walkers the brilliant walking area was just what we wanted.

The only gripes we had were the lack of vital information given to us by Sykes! Our party journeyed in two parts in very snowy conditions and we had major problems when the first arrivals could not contact the others to warn them of the adverse state of the local road due to lack of phone signal which was never mentioned by the company. We took half an hour to get up the single track road which was very steep and covered in a sheet of ice - yet again no warning that a 4 wheel drive vehicle may be needed. The owners did all they could do to help, but we felt let down by the infomation Sykes had provided. Thankfully we were fit enough to push our large car full of Christmas fare up the hill, anyone with health problems would not have coped.

We stayed here while visiting family nearby. It is a beautiful conversion with all the equipment you would need and more, and space for us to welcome visitors. There are some lovely touches like the kids playground, toys for kids, phone box with great maps and local info, and the owners are on hand if you need them. Would recommend to anyone wanting a real country break with luxury!

Swallow cottage was very cosy with real attention to detail, this made for a very relaxing stay. The play field was excellent and the kids really enjoyed all the equipment that was there. The shared train carriage was a nice touch with lots of really useful information about what to do in the surrounding area. We would definitely come back.

Very friendly owners, who were always happy to help with any issues. Lots of extra items provided making it a real "home from home" property. Particularly appreciated the welcome card, wine and tea left out for us when we arrived.

The cottage was very cosy and suitable for children. It was good to have an enclosed space at the back for a BBQ and space in the front for our bikes.

It was fantastic and the hosts were very hospitable. We're already planning our next stay at the cottage.

The location of the cottage guaranteed a peaceful holiday. We were able to take beautiful walks from the front door, untroubled by traffic. The cottage was easily the best equipped we have ever stayed in (in over 25 years of taking two or three cottage holidays a year!). Spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable.

Our second time back and it was as good as the first. The owners are great hosts and this is a great place from which to see the surrounding area.

A beautiful barn conversion, equipped with everything you could need. Huge attention has been paid to detail and the cottage was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the remote setting and loved our walks on The Long Mynd and Stipperstones.

The cottage is outstanding and should be given the highest rating. This was a return visit and the improvements to the garden have made it a huge attraction to young children.

The cottage is spacious, it is quiet and the whole ambiance of the place lends itself to relaxing and watching Mother Nature at work in the surroundings. The owners friendliness is genuine and welcome.

The best UK rental property we have used! Wonderful riverside walks. The Lion provides really super food. Ardvaark Books at Brampton Bryan, a fantastic place to while away a few hours, even if your not a keen reader.

The cottage was absolutely spotlessly clean - in fact cleaner than I have ever experienced in a similar situation. The owners were a delight and the contents of the kitchen were very thoughtful. We managed to be quite ambitious with our catering for the whole family as quite simply we had the confidence that we would find everything we needed in order to prepare the meals. The area is of course absolutely beautiful.

The little play area was a great idea and the children in our party really loved it. Our hosts were friendly and on hand if required but have also perfected the art of giving you plenty of freedom and space to enjoy your break. We really enjoyed our time here.
