Nethercote Byre

Escape into the centre of the Exmoor National Park moorlands with a stay at Nethercote Byre, a lovely large holiday cottage found off the beaten track several miles from Winsford and Exford in Somerset.

This child-friendly cottage has been converted from a large U-shaped barn into a holiday getaway that comfortably houses up to eight guests in a wonderfully tranquil spot amidst the moors. Partake in nature watching, long countryside walks, or simply unwind and enjoy a relaxing holiday escape from your busy everyday life.

The kitchen with dining area comes well-fitted for creating home-cooked meals. The living room boasts wooden floors, original artwork, natural timber and a woodburning stove, making it the perfect gathering place after you’ve spent the day exploring this area. Walkthrough either pair of sliding glazed doors onto the courtyard garden or dine al fresco at the large dining table or access the owner’s surrounding land to take in gorgeous views.

A second sitting room/playroom includes table football, TV with DVD player, sofa, and table for playing games or solving jigsaws, making it the perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon with the kids. This pet-friendly cottage includes a super-king double master and three twin’s bedrooms as well as two bathrooms, all evenly distributed on either end of Nethercote Byre.

The picturesque village of Exford along the River Exe boasts two traditional inns when you want a night out, whilst Winsford at the confluence of the River Exe and Winn Brook sits near Caratacus Stone, a medieval memorial stone with a 6th-century inscription, and Winsford Hill, home to a herd of roaming Exmoor ponies and the Wambarrows, a Bronze Age burial site.
