Family Birthday Celebrations at Meerbrook

We found the accomodation excellent with the owner
ver welcoming and helpful. The facilities for our
party which included two young children were ideal.
The only critiscm we had that it was difficult to
find in the dark and there should be a sign at the
end of the lane leading to the property.

A clear view of the Roaches every morning !!

Goldcrest Cottage was ideal for us - 6 adults, 2 children at school and a toddler. Plenty of space in the cottage as well as plenty of space in the garden area. Local pubs were good for food and beer and we made the trip up to the Roaches on 3 separate occasions - including a 10 mile walk from the cottage. The shops in Leek were easily found and we made good use of the Co-op.

All of us - from Essex, Suffolk and Northumbria had good journeys to and from - so a great family holiday was had by all.

A lovely cottage, very helpful owners and a beautiful spot.

We received a lovely friendly welcome on arrival from the owners.
The cottage was well appointed and very clean, with lots of amenities and in a beautiful location. Plentiful parking space.
We were able to walk to several local attractions including the village pub for some meals and Titesworh Water for walks etc. The views were magnificent.
The facilities wre brilliant so we could cook our own meals and in this cold weather the house was so warm. .

The best holiday cottage we've ever stayed in!

Goldcrest was, without doubt, the best holiday cottage we've ever stayed in - and we've stayed in many! Our hostess was delightful and welcoming, the cottage spotless in every respect, well equipped and maintained to a very high standard. Beautiful location, close to a marvellous pub, The Lazy Trout, which served fabulous food and a beautiful reservoir with great amenities. Nothing at all to dislike - unless you count the weather, which was pretty grim!

Ideal family country cottage

Perfect location for exploring the surrounding area, within sight of The Roaches; Reservoir, Adventure Playground and good food served at the Lazy Trout Pub, all within walking distance. The cottage was ideal for our family of 12 ranging from 18mths to over 60! A warm welcome was given by the owners, nothing was too much trouble, everything we needed was availble. A thoroughly enjoyable weekend, celebrating a 40th Birthday, even the weather was on our side!

Best Holiday Cottage Ever

Lovely Cottage suited our big family (2 adults 9 children). Each cottage has its own Garden plus adjacent meadow for the kids to run around in. Great position for access to attractions and also so isolated. Great value for money. If you are lucky you will meet the chickens!!!

Rural Retreat. - nice family accommodation

Lovely rural retreat, beautiful views, nice accommodation but lacking a few basic essentials. Great for groups or families , great base for walking the peaks etc.

Excellent.

Superb location for walking, visiting Alton Towers, Buxton, Ashbourne, Potteries and Chatsworth (about 1 hr drive). Wonderful local scenery from Goldcrest and from the Roaches. Good pub within 5 min walk and walks round Tittersworth reservoir as well as children's playground and visitors cafe all in walking distance. Cycling too at the Manifold Valley track was enjoyed by the children and adults as it was safe and flat.
Owner very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Some minor improvements perhaps - blackout blinds and curtains in bedrooms and more mirrors. A wonderful time was had by all the family despite the wide age range.

Beautiful place in a lovely location!

We stayed at Goldcrest for a family get together and we were very impressed when we arrived. The photos do not do this place justice.

The house itself was a perfect size for our party of 9 though more people could have fitted in without a squash. It was spotlessly clean and the underfloor heating kept us lovely and warm. It has been maintained and decorated to a high standard with little extras to make it feel more homely. It is one of three converted barns situated in a courtyard.

The other thing I wanted to mention was how helpful Susan (I'm sorry if I've got your name wrong),the lady who owns it was. Offering to help us to arrange things while we were there.

The barn itself is in a great location for visiting Leek and it is possible to walk or drive to a beautiful reservoir that is nearby. There is also a pub only a 5 minute walk away which we were told does excellent food. It had a lovely atmosphere.

Overall I can't recommend this place enough. Thanks for a memorable stay!

Aprillis

This is a really well equipped cottage with everything you could possibly need. We were a group of 9 people and each of had their own privacy. The decor is so nice and relaxing we had a great time and are hoping to return.

Mrs Bonanno

The property was fantastic as was the service, couldn't have asked for anything to be better. The kitchen was especially well stocked and the house was luxurious, well equipped and very warm and cosy.

Mr Orchard

Central location for exploring, great place - lots of room - met everyones' needs. Great log fire. Liked the en-suite facilities, gave you privacy. Great outdoor area - great for large family get togethers.

Mrs Iven

We were welcomed at the cottage by the owner which was a great touch. She showed us around and explained the layout, heating and anything we needed to know including some local knowledge of pubs and things to do, etc. The property itself was beautiful and with everything feeling fresh and clean inside. The underfloor heating on the entire ground floor was wonderful, we would have never have known that it was below freezing outside had we not gone out. The en-suites to all the bedrooms and Sky TV in all the rooms was a great bonus. Overall a brilliant property which we will certainly be coming back to!

Mr Blackburn

This was a beautiful holiday home, full of every comfort you could possibly want. Our three generations of family all had a fantastic time, and the three small children loved the house and the garden - especially when it snowed.

Mr Morley

We all thought the location and setting of the cottage was great. It was very close to local attractions (like Alton Towers and Chatsworth House) but also the reservoir was great for the kids and only a short walk away. The cottage itself was lovely and decorated to a high standard and the gardens and fields around were ideal for young children to run around in. The owner was also very helpful and made sure we had everything that we needed for a good stay.

Mrs Feenan

The cottage itself was lovely and comfortable and clean. The outside area was safe for the children to run around. The nearby fields contained sheep and cows which the children loved too. The owner was very friendly. The area was nice and quiet.

Ms Hannam

The spaciousness of the lounge area and the number of bedrooms/bathrooms were ideal for our size of party - six adults and five children. The property was ideally situated in a beautiful part of the country and although close to other properties at no time were we aware of others on the site. The garden was very private and perfectly safe for the little ones to run around in. We particularly enjoyed visits to Tittesworth Reservoir and Rudyard Lake, both very close and accessible.

Mrs Boothman

View of the Roaches was stunning and so were the walks along the ridge.
Good food and beer at both the "Three Horse Shoes" and the "Lazy Trout"
Good visits to Rudyard Lake, Rare Breed Farm, Monkey World and Gulliver's. So lots to do for all the family !

Mr Grant

The property had ample space for us, 3 families of four. The field to run around on and fly kites was fantastic. The view of the Roaches was great too.

Mrs Gaade

The accommodation was immaculately maintained and in a stunning location - all we could have asked for with a great welcome thrown in.

Mrs Donlan

The barn was fully equipped for all our needs and was of a very high standard. The location was perfect, great walks from the door and a lovely little pub in the village. The owner was very welcoming and extremely helpful. I wouldn't hesitate in coming to stay again.

Mrs Hodgson

Excellent views around the property. Lovely walks around the reservoir and super park for the kids. Owners very helpful and friendly. Plenty of space for parking cars.

Mrs Thomas

Beautiful barn conversion in a beautiful setting. The owners were really friendly and extremely helpful. The whole family had great fun on the paddle boats at Tittesworth Resevoir - haven't laughed so much in ages - and the Moorcroft Pottery Factory Tour, just outside nearby Stoke-on-Trent, is not to be missed - absolutely fascinating.

Mrs Daly

The standard of accommodation was excellent and the location was brilliant. The surrounding countryside was lovely and peaceful. We had a lovely time.

Miss Naylor

It was a great opportunity to spend a weekend with our family who all thoroughly enjoyed their stay.

Mrs Gough

The welcome we received was amazing and the facilities were perfect for the holiday that we wanted. Will definitely be recommending the holiday cottage to friends and family.

Miss Prisk

An ideal location for a group holiday. The walks from the house were good and after you walk the Roaches you can see where you have been from the kitchen window!

Mrs Herdman

After a day in the beautiful countryside of the Peak District it was great to return to Goldcrest knowing that it was comfortable, warm, spacious and equipped with all mod cons.

Mr Wakeling

The cottage was of excellent quality and we appreciated the hospitality of the owners and also the friendliness of the hosts at The Lazy Trout Pub - not to mention the excellent food! This was the perfect weekend retreat.

Mrs Barrass

We particularly liked the welcome, very friendly and instructive. The whole house was well furnished and extremely comfortable. Everyone enjoyed the break and we would recommend it to friends and family.

Mr King-wilson

A beautiful setting and a very friendly and helpful owner - good cleanliness to the property.

Mrs Reynolds

It was perfect for us all and we had a lovely time together. The children loved the garden. The owners are lovely and make you very welcome.

Mrs Morley

The location was perfect, cottage ideal for our family of 12 ranging from 18 months to over 60! Warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Everything we needed was there, we had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend which included celebrating a 40th birthday.

Mrs Burke

We all loved Goldcrest. It was in a great quiet location, but not too far from the local pubs, lovely countryside walks, Buxton and Bakewell. We really enjoyed our stay so much and the accommodation really helped to make our weekend away really special for my sister.

Miss Taylor

The village was idyllic and relaxing and the cottage was really comfortable.

Mrs Phillips

Very friendly and welcoming owners. House in beautiful location, and in overall excellent condition. We got the impression that the owners were really proud of their accommodation and really wanted us to enjoy our stay

Mr Fernand

Location was excellent for travelling into the Peak District and also to the potteries of Stoke. Perfect accommodation for a large family.

Mr Bugg

Great property. We were a group of 10 who stayed for a long weekend. The bedrooms were all very well decorated with en-suites and comfy beds. The kitchen was very well stocked with a gorgeous range oven and the living room was very comfortable. The underfloor heating was a godsend. We all loved the cottage and would come again. Local pub is a two minute walk away and the food was excellent.

Mrs Allum

Great location, and the cottage was spacious and comfortable. Owner friendly and helpful.

Mrs Geddes

I had to contact the owner prior to our break so we were made to feel very welcome before we had even arrived. The location and standard of accommodation were excellent. Within walking distance of Tittesworth Water and the start of some great walks. There are also a couple of good pubs and an award winning tearoom within easy reach of the barn. We were a group of eight friends, the barn is well equipped to accommodate families and children. We look forward to returning at some point in the future.

Mr Rawson

We stayed here with our friends and family before and after our wedding! It was an amazing place! The owner was really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The standard of the accommodation was amazing, very peaceful location surrounded by spectacular views. We can't recommend the place enough and will definitely be returning!

Mr Svikis

A wonderful place that was just perfect for our needs. Nice standard of accommodation, very comfortable and in a beautiful setting. Hopeful we will return!

Mrs Bradford

We had a great time at Alderlee farm. It was safe for the 6 two year olds we took with us and the garden was perfect for them. It was only a short drive to Leek town centre, Rudyard Lake & Blackbrook bird zoo, all of which we visited. A short walk took you to the reservoir & childrens play area. The location of the barn was perfect for us.
The owner was most friendly & helpful and even left us flowers, wine and chocolates for our arrival.
We all loved it here.

Miss Clarke

Lovely stone barn in a beautiful setting, away from it all. Was easy to walk from Goldcrest to The Roaches. Great property, superb location, peace and quiet. What more could you want?

Mrs Plater

Excellent location. Excellent facilities in barn for all our family. Friendly and helpful owner.

Mrs Gibbs

We had a great holiday. The fire and underfloor heating were amazing on those cold November nights. We went for a walk up to The Roaches and enjoyed the views as the sun set.

Miss Juniper

We had a lovely stay, the location was great and the cottage was lovely and a really good size for the 7 of us.

Mrs Hill

Fantastic cottage. We stayed here for a family get together and there was plenty of room for the 9 adults and 2 children. In a fantastic area and the cottage was the best we had stayed in. Can't wait to return.

Miss Skelhorne

The location was excellent and the views of the Roaches were beautiful. There was walking from the door and plenty of opportunities for cycling, there were also several National Trust properties in the area, so overall something for everyone. The standard of the barn was also excellent and the owner was very kind and helpful. The area is spectacular but seems to be relatively unknown with beautiful lakes, hills and valleys. The stunning weather - every day a clear blue sky, just completed the whole experience perfectly.

Mrs Reading

We had a wonderful break in a lovely property situated in stunning surroundings. What's not to like? Also, the owner of this property is kind, courteous and thoughtful. Thanks for a great holiday.

Mr Bagnall

Everything about the cottage was perfect - excellent set up and very well equipped. Thank you for a lovely family holiday.

Mrs Nienaltowski

Our 'landlady' could not have been more helpful. She advised on any questions before and during our stay promptly. The house was lovely and warm and most comfortable for our large party. We all felt quite at home!

Mrs Hodge

The location of Goldcrest was excellent, and there was enough to do in the surrounding area for our party. .
