The Salty Dog has been awarded four gold stars by Visit Britain. The spacious, open-plan accommodation consists of 3 bedrooms, each with zip-link beds, with en-suite shower room to the main bedroom; family bathroom; lounge; kitchen dining room; children's playroom and WC. The fully enclosed garden is ideal for kids and dogs to play in and any sports equipment can be stored securely in the garage. To the side of the house is an outdoor tap with hose for showering sand off dogs (and kids) after playing on the beach.
Genuinely family friendly, The Salty Dog is equipped with travel cots, high chairs, stair gates, steam steriliser etc. etc. to make holidaying with a young family as stress-free as possible. We can cater easily for twins with two of everything needed and triplets with a little bit of notice. There are also plenty of indoor and outdoor toys and games.
The sand on the nearby beach is perfect for sandcastles and shallow lagoons left by the receding tide, and often warmed by the sun, are the perfect place for children to splash around. The ideal place for your family seaside holiday or short break.
Camber Sands is a great holiday destination for water sports enthusiasts too. It has kite boarding, wind surfing and equipment hire and tuition available.
Take a look at our website for more details.
The winds coming off the sea and from the marshes makes Camber Sands a popular destination for water-sports enthusiasts. Kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing, wake-boarding, water-skiing and jet-skiing are all available locally either from the beach or on a large coastal lake just outside Camber.
The medieval town of Rye with it's cobbled streets and quaint shops is only 3 miles away. This pretty little hilltop town, once the haunt of smugglers, is steeped in history. The cobbled streets are now lined with art galleries, antique shops, artisan food shops, historic inns, restaurants and tea shops. The town also hosts many festivals and special events throughout the year including the famous Rye Bay Scallop Festival, the Wild Boar Festival, the Bonfire Procession and Rye Christmas Festival.
The nearby marshlands of Romney Marsh are ideal for long county walks, bike rides, painting and bird watching.
Camber village itself has a couple of nice restaurants including The Gallivant, The Dunes Bar and the Ray Bay Cafe. The local pub, The Owl, also offers food, a selection of well-kept ales and welcomes dogs.
The Salty Dog and Camber Sands are easily accessible by rail from London. Fast trains run to Ashford or Hastings, then connect with a short branch line journey to Rye. Taxis are available outside Rye station for a 10 minute ride to the house.
By car take the M20 to Ashford then its a short drive across the Romney Marshes to The Salty Dog.

Highly Recommended by The Stoddard Family on September 3rd 2017
The house is modern and so comfortable. It has everything you need to make your stay easy. The beds are so comfy, easy to have a good nights sleep. The homemade scones and jam that were given to us on arrival were delicious, and went very quickly!!! The kids enjoyed the playroom and it was brilliant not having to pack lots of games and dvds because there were lots there. We were able to walk to the beach every day 5 mins, the beach is beautiful the kids spent hours dune jumping and the weather was kind so we swam in the sea. Would highly recommend this house for a very enjoyable stay!!!
Excellent Base - Great Holiday! by The Pullen Family on August 20th 2017
We had a 4 day break with our grandsons in August. The accommodation was excellent in all regards, comfortable and ideal for the boys aged 5 & 6. There were plenty of games and videos etc. to occupy them indoors and it was also very convenient for the beautiful sandy beach at Camber which was only a 5 minute walk away. There were plenty of bike routes nearby and also a number of interesting and fun things to do a little further afield. All in all an excellent base for a great holiday
4 Wonderfully Relaxed Nights by Sassy, Jimmy, Olly, Sam and Strawberry x on June 20th 2017
We have just arrived back to London after 4 wonderfuly relaxed nights at the Salty Dog. This place is a short walk from the wonderful golden sand dunes and beach of Camber sands. We were blessed with tropical weather. The house was well equipped in on arrival Carol, the owner had a lovely birthday cake waiting for the birthday boy. What a lovely kind thought. There was a complimentary basket including jam and scones and a pint of milk in the fridge. The kitchen was early equipped and there were some lovely touches with the beach equipment and deck chairs in the garage. Beds were comfy and bedrooms were modern and clean. The contact with Carol before booking was speedy and also she was on hand if we needed anything. We were met on arrival by the house manager who was lovely and showed us everything we needed to know. Strawberry the Staffy was well catered for with bowls and treats in the complimentary basket and she enjoyed the back garden as much as we did. I would recommend The Salty Dog to anyone wanting a seaside break in a lovely lazy little town. Family or friends and pooches as our break was. Thank you
What's Not To Like! by Jan Toms on September 11th 2016
he four of us (two couples) all needed a short but sweet couple of days away for some rest and relaxation. Not having been to Rye before and also fancying some beach walks, weather willing, we were very happy indeed to find The Salty Dog to stay in. Very easy to find and park. Five minutes stroll to some fantastic sand dunes and a huge expanse of beach. A very short drive to the incredibly quaint town of Rye where we ate out both nights and also wandered around the "must visit" sites, rambling up and down cobbled lanes and alleyways, stopping for cream teas! A lovely clean house to stay in. Spotless bathrooms with very good, powerful showers. The homemade scones and jam a real welcome treat. What's not to like!

Fantastic for Families by Barendse family on July 27th 2013
We were here with our 3 children for our first holiday as a family of five. Though it was pretty busy with all the normal daily stuff, we have had plenty of holiday fun. The playroom and the garden toys have been enjoyed very well and the short distance from The Salty Dog to the beach was walked plenty of times. The house had everything we needed; a sure recommendation to others who want to go to East Sussex.
