This attractive region of East Yorkshire is a delightful but relatively unknown corner that offers visitors a splendid choice of holiday cottages in the Yorkshire Wolds. The Wolds run in an arc from the Humber estuary and break onto the coast with the dramatic cliffs at Bempton and Flamborough. Gentle undulating countryside cut through with spectacular deep valleys scattered with picturesque villages and traditional market towns. The Dales are also home to the artist David Hockney, who can sometimes be seen painting “en Plein air,” capturing the beauty of the Yorkshire Wolds. Beverley, a most delightful Yorkshire town, is well worth a visit with its Minster and Georgian Quarter and many historic buildings. It also has a great collection of independent shops and restaurants. Driffield, known as the capital of the Wolds, is an unspoilt traditional market town which still has a market every Thursday. Beverley also has a large market on Saturday and a smaller market on Wednesday.
