Surfing, bodyboarding, fishing and swimming are popular at the beach, while the lake is a favourite for sailing and windsurfing. The South West Coast Path runs right past the village, with breathtaking views across Start Bay. Walk at least a small stretch of this world-famous route, and watch for passing seals and dolphins. To the west, Salcombe is another classic resort on the estuary of the River Kingsbridge, with a sandy shore and clear blue waters backed by rolling hills. The mysterious landscapes of Dartmoor National Park are to the north of Beesands.
