The village of Luxborough lies in the Brendon Hills, in Exmoor National Park. It is located in the county of Somerset, six miles north of Brendon. The parish includes the tiny hamlets of Churchtown, Pooltown and Kingsbridge. Various industrial remains can be seen in and around the village, including the railway station. Today, Luxborough is a peaceful, rural community. There are no shops, and the area remains largely untouched by tourism, making self-catering holidays in Luxborough perfect for visitors who want to explore the windswept moors, wooded combes, and rocky coast of Exmoor.

The village is little more than a meeting of narrow country roads, lined with high hedgerows and dotted with historic stone homes, many of which are thatched and date back to the 18th century. The area is scattered with farms, and much of the countryside around the village is thickly wooded. There are two pretty churches, St Mary’s, which dates back to Norman times, and the Church of The Blessed Virgin Mary. Washford River passes nearby, flowing through the Kingsbridge Valley. A stroll away from your holiday cottage in Luxborough, The Royal Oak is a 14th century pub with open fires, wooden beams, and a lovely courtyard for the summer months. The pub serves a variety of local ales, and excellent food prepared with the finest local ingredients.
On the doorstep of holiday cottages in Luxborough, many footpaths ascend into the surrounding hills, providing walkers with far-reaching views of the region.
